After accepting sannyasa, Mahaprabhu traveled to Jagannath Puri, where He met the famous scholar Sarvabhauma Bhattacharya. Initially the scholar tried to teach Him impersonal philosophy, but after hearing Mahaprabhu’s explanations of devotional scriptures, Sarvabhauma realized His divine nature. He became a devoted follower and began glorifying the path of bhakti, devotion to Krishna.

Śrī Chaitanya Mahaprabhu traveled widely across South India, spreading the chanting of the holy names and awakening devotion wherever He went. Beginning from Jagannath Puri, He visited many sacred places such as Kurma Kshetra (Srikurmam), Simhachalam, Ahobilam, Tirupati, Kanchipuram, and Srirangam. Through ecstatic kirtan and personal example, He inspired people from all walks of life to chant the Hare Krishna maha-mantra and practice bhakti.

During this journey, Mahaprabhu also visited Madurai, Rameswaram, and Kanyakumari, and had a profound spiritual discussion with Ramananda Raya on the banks of the Godavari River. In Srirangam, He stayed for several months at the home of Venkata Bhatta, transforming many hearts through His humility, compassion, and deep devotion. Everywhere He traveled, Mahaprabhu spread the Sankirtan movement, leaving a lasting legacy of devotion across South India.
